Our Focus Areas

Wetlands Restoration & Environmental Justice

Picture
We support community-driven restoration efforts like the revival of Manguo Wetland, combining clean-ups, native replanting, education, and local organizing.

Cultural Dialogue

Through podcasting, articles, and roundtables, we elevate unfiltered conversations on culture and the systems that shape our well-being.

Youth Fellowships

Picture
Through youth-led fellowships, we reimagine how people move with a focus on equity, sustainability, and local design. Fellows explore solutions that strengthen community access and contribute to a just transition.

The Eshet Food Program is our commitment to fighting food insecurity while building climate resilience. In Georgia, we are piloting student-led gardens and community food initiatives that provide fresh produce directly to families. By 2030, this model will expand to Ethiopia through the Eshet Food Bank, ensuring vulnerable households receive nutritious weekly packages. Rooted in food justice and sustainability, Eshet empowers youth leaders and strengthens diaspora connections to create healthier, more resilient communities.

Karibu (“Welcome”) and Pamoja (“Together”) reflect our belief that progress happens when people feel seen and supported. The Karibu Pamoja Foundation helps families navigate life’s toughest challenges—whether securing housing, accessing health resources, or finding meaningful work. We provide direct referrals, mentorship, and small community grants that bring stability and hope to those in need. As a bridge between U.S.-based youth initiatives and African community resilience projects, Karibu Pamoja uplifts families while investing in long-term, community-led change.

Restoring Manguo Wetland

At the edge of Limuru, Kenya, lies the Manguo Wetland — a vital ecosystem that filters water, supports biodiversity, and sustains local livelihoods. For too long, it has been overlooked and degraded, yet it remains essential to the health of both people and the planet. At Voices of Change, we believe that restoring wetlands is more than an environmental act — it is a way of reclaiming balance, dignity, and community stewardship.
Our work at Manguo is rooted in:
  • Ecological restoration: Clean-ups, native plantings, and habitat revival.
  • Community engagement: Conversations, workshops, and youth-led stewardship.
  • Storytelling & advocacy: Sharing the lessons of Manguo as a model for grassroots restoration.
This is not a quick fix. It is long-term, community-led care — where conservation meets education, and where every tree planted, every clean-up organized, becomes a statement that people matter, and the earth matters too. We see Manguo Wetland as a living classroom, a site of healing, and a beacon for what is possible when local voices drive ecological change.

Our Model for Impact

 Listen

We host real, unfiltered conversations that reveal what communities are feeling, facing, and fighting for. Through podcast episodes, community listening sessions, and local storytelling, we ground our work in lived experience.

Build

We turn insight into action—whether through wetland restoration, green mobility programs, or youth training. Our work is collaborative, hands-on, and rooted in place.

Amplify

We share what works and push conversations into public discourse—through digital media, public events, educational tools, and partnerships that widen the circle.

Why It Matters

Interconnected Problems. Collective Solutions. The challenges we face don’t exist in silos. Environmental degradation, social isolation, and lack of access are not separate issues — they are symptoms of systems that must be reimagined.
At Voices of Change, we work at the intersection of these systems with one purpose:
To create space for people to lead — in their own voices, on their own terms, and with their own communities.
